What a beautiful instrument. I used one the pictures of it on your website for my desktop background, and really enjoyed reading more about it here on the blog. I hope to own one of your instruments one day, a friend of mine here in Portland OR has one of your banjos, and i always enjoying playing it.

This banjo looks downright moody! I love it. The mix of woods contrast nicely. Enjoy your new player. Cheers!

So many cool things on this banjo. I really like the longer backstrap. And that's some wild claro walnut.

Nice new t-shirt design. I'm proud to wear it. Thanks.

And I've been trying the Savarez New Cristal strings. Same tension as the yellow cards but the strings are thinner. They sound a bit different too. You might like them too.

Another gorgeous batch of banjos. I really love the look of that bee banjo. The stained color of the skin is perfect for those honey makers. Look forward to seeing Jason's new player. Cheers!

Hi - I am the owner of banjo # 09209. I thought I'd finally take a moment to say how happy I am with this banjo. It has the exact sound I wanted - plunky but alive, loud without being harsh. I had to do some experimenting with strings (currently using Chris Sands heavy gauge nylon, with some Savarez strings in the wings) and now I'd say that the banjo is pretty darn perfect. My aesthetic leans toward plain - even so, "she's" pretty to look at. Since I wanted an 11" pot, Jason made it deeper in order to get the right sound. The banjo growls when tuned down to double C. Thanks so much!

(continued from above). I truly believe that Jason is the most talented and artistic openback builder working today. There are other great builders, and great sounding banjos, but no one IMHO has the same aesthetic sense. Credit is also due to Jason's wife, Pharis. I understand that she has a big role in inlay design and execution, and maybe more. Finally, while I'm here, let me plug Jason's stringband, The Haints, and their great CD: Shout Mona. Not to detract from anyone's musicianship, but their fiddler, Erynn Marshall is outstanding. Find "Erynn Marshall Old Christmas Morning" on Youtube. Brother, the hair on your neck will stand up!

I am the proud and humbled owner of #200. I'll confess to having a couple of Jason's instruments, so perhaps I'm biased. But this instrument (like his others) is spectacular. Woody and warm, with great dynamic range. Perfect playability and flawless workmanship. Some author I once read said rainbow trout are prettier than they need to be. That can be said double of Jason's instruments. But if you're buying a lifetime instrument that you'll spend thousands of hours with, why not get the best looking as well as the best playing instrument? And consider this: how much would the equivalent quality cost in a dreadnought guitar? I bet three or four times what Jason charges
